music i keep looping
im not a music expert. i probably got some stuff wrong. i don't have much mind blowing insight. i just find stuff and post what i like here and nothing is in any particular order
also genres arent real but im stuck using them anyway
crumb
- locket (2017)
a friend kept raving about these guys so i gave them a listen. was not disappointed. i'm a sucker for the synth sound in this. also it really reminded me of sweet trip's "you will never know why"
mid air thief
- crumbling (2018)
honestly, probably one of the most beautiful albums i've ever listened to. the like chill but incredibly powerful sound of everything stunned me when i first listen to it and it still does. shit feels like a hug..
- gameun deut (2015)
this was less on the intense side to me and definitely felt less intense then crumbling (i listened to that one first), but still a really enjoyble listen
toe
- the book about my idle plot on a vague anxiety (2012)
just chill and relaxing (mostly) mathrock/postrock stuff. i mean i feel like i should say more but thats the first thing i thought when listening to toe's discography in general. shits nice to put on while working on stuff
- for long tomorrow (2009)
yeah ive said enough already. but fave track off this album is probably "グッドバイ (album version)." the lyrics dont really make any sense (most of it is just broken english) but everything else is just really healing so i'm not gonna let that ruin the song for me
giles corey
- hinterkaifeck (2013)
a friend recommended this to me and i will forever thank him for that lol. just... a really chill album to lie down and listen to. the raw guitar sound and emotion in this really struck deep. also ik the dude who made giles corey is the singer in have a nice life thats kinda cool also i need to listen to the rest of this discography
sweet trip
- you will never know why (2009)
found this album via spotify recs, and i absolutely love the warm synth/guitar/whatever sound in this. i looped "air supply" and "milk" for the longest time lol
also i know the album art i put here is of the remaster
god i need to check out the rest of their discography. actually i listened a bit of dsco and it was nice
part time
- return to cherry (2015)
i heard the warm synthy sound of animal machines for the first time and immediately fell in love with this album
- modern history (2019)
felt a bit more upbeat compared to return to cherry but i loved this album equally
honestly, the more i think about it though david loca is kinda fuckin weird and it shows in some of his music (esp virgos maze, mf seems horny as hell i think he even had allegations against him) which is a fucking shame because some of his stuff sounds really nice
molchat doma
idk what genre this stuff is. i think it's called post punk or something. its some nice shit. depressing yet kinda upbeat. i need to find more
- etazhi (2018)
yeah this is the one everyone and their mom knows. i still love it.
- С крыш наших домов (2017), monument (2020)
honestly idk what else to say for the rest of the stuff ive listened to from them so far. they have their little consistent style and i dig it
12-31-21 update: i listened to a bit more of monument. honestly i like the sound of it way more then other albums. has this slightly like compressed more raw feeling in it. idk how to describe it really
100 gecs
- 1000 gecs (2019), mememe (single, 2021)
this shit made me gay
also i went to one of their concerts recently and it was probably the most fun ive had in years
that mosh pit gave me back pain for a solid 2 weeks lmao
alice gas
- sorry 4 being famous (2019)
swag happy hardcore to dance to
someone sent a song off the album to me (contact) and i fucking loved it so i gave the rest of the album a listen and its nice
- hardcore heaven (2021)
more swag happy hardcore to dance to
i listened to this a few days before posting this and i had the realization that alice gas was actually at the 100 gecs concert i went to and i heard this album live and it was pretty fucking cool
post 4am thoughts - its only swag to dance to at a concert lmao i never really see myself coming back to these except for contact
bo en
- pale machine (2013)
OMG THE OMORI SONG IS IN THIS
jokes aside, nice experimental pop shit. i was gonna write a favorite track but they're all really good tbh. also the last.fm page for this classifies boen as "introverted maximal pop" and i didnt even know those were a string of words you could slam together until then"
i remember one late night in 2019, while i was sitting in bed listening to music my time came on
i thought it was kinda weird at first but kinda grew to like it but i never thought it would come back to curse me when i played omori lol
musician17
- caffeine explosion (2021)
neat ambient stuff, with some breakcore mixed in. honestly i prefer the more ambient tracks. i mean nothing really feels *that* out of place. it feels weird sometimes but it kinda feels like thats how the album was mweant to be? idk.
my favorite is still "girl" i looped that shit for days
johnnascus
- shoot up the amazon warehouse (2020)
this song feels like an auditory representation of going insane also its a good fucking song like god damn
panchiko
- d>e>a>t>h>m>e>t>a>l (2000)
the 4chan /mu/ discovery turned underground classic turned we started looking for the guys that made these and found them. or at least, that's how it supposedly goes. whatever the story is, they've got some nice shit. soothing yet full of life. it's the same feeling i get from this that i get from shit like hinterkaifeck and crumbling.
i keep seeing shit online like "radiohead type beat" but tbh who cares. bro this is why i hate music nerds
favorite songs (probably): CUT, kicking cars
i'll add more to this list as i discover more stuff and feel like updating the site.
